Funny how life goes, or life giggling because it always knew exactly what it was doing. I wrote a blog very recently with the title "how I became a Fujifilm photographer'. And here we are now, just a few blogs later with a "how I became a Fujifilm & Pentax photographer". So, what happened here you might ask, well, let me tell you, it all started with a lens. And as it turns out, the lens used to take the photo of my pelican friend Mohawk here many years ago.
The babies are here!

Springtime to me is always lovely for many reasons, and many of those reasons being, many adorable baby canadian geese at the local lake, and as always, my returning home with way too many photos. But also as always, many of those photos ending up being really unsharp. And for sure a big part of that is the fault of the photographer, aka, me! When it comes to who is faster, the cute little yellow fluffy wings or this photographer, we have clear adorable winners, and I would have very gladly let it go too, adorable fluffy should always be the clear winner! But I also noticed that when I took my non telephoto lens with me, I was getting sharper photos. So maybe it wasn't all just me. And with a birthday coming up, didn't I owe the world of cuteness to look into if there might be a lens out there that could help me present these adorable fluffy friends in all their sharp glory.
Diving into the wide ocean of lenses

For someone who already isn't tech smart, to now find out how many lens options there are out there was overwhelming enough. As well as seeing a lottery win was needed to purchase many of those lenses. And my amazing Fujifilm camera was showing me every which way how hard it was working to help me try to keep up with my little yellow friends. So maybe it was okay to just let this one go. I instead focused on organizing old photo files, including those of my young pelican friend Mohawk and looking at his photos then realized, I have had the perfect lens for me all along, right there with my old Pentax camera.
Thank you red Pentax K-r

Many years ago, when I felt I was ready to get my first DSLR camera, I knew there were a few things I would need, mostly because of my slightly, am prone to fall off things for no good reason, nature. And if it wasn't me falling off things, I would be taking photos of "let me taste test this first" kittens and "how fast can I run into this" squirrels, so I needed a camera that could handle a bump or two. And even though I live in a city known for all round sun 24-7, I love going out the few moody, gloomy days that come with rain drops. And maybe it seemed a less big crowd was choosing a Pentax camera, for me, the Pentax ticked all the right boxes. And I kind of liked that not everyone was choosing the Pentax and hence my going for the red one to show how proud I was of mine. But there's also a reason why after years of being amazingly happy with my Pentax, I switched to Fujifilm, namely the size and weight.
Hello Pentax K-70

My beautiful red, though willing to go back on adventures with me, sounded a bit tired and totally deserving of a rest after years of my running it into rogue waves. And though I knew that any new Pentax would still be heavier than my Fujifilm, my theory on that was, enjoy my Fujifilm for hikes, fast moving cats and squirrels and the likes, and the Pentax would be perfect for when I knew I was going to enjoy a day with my bird friends.
After watching much feedback from the amazing photographers on YouTube, I ended up going with the Pentax K-70. I have fallen in love with the articulating screen on my Fujifilm and knew that would be a hard thing to give up. The double dial seemed like that might for sure help me transition easier between my Fujifilm and the Pentax, after realizing holding my pretty red, that I had no idea how to set a shutter speed, or anything really! And even after all these years, my fellow photographers seemed to really enjoy taking their K-70 out. And after just one week, I already have to agree.
I had a cat event the weekend my new Pentax arrived and was nervous to bring it with me and potentially ending up in panic mode in not remembering how to use it. And some things are for sure going to need me to re learn a few things, but that is also always the fun of it all. But in the meantime, I got to enjoy, new/ old lenses again, creating new memories out of old ones, and now get to call myself a Fujifilm & Pentax photographer.

Ebay p.s
Side note, all my cameras are used and from Ebay, which for me was quite a nerve wrecking decision to make, the first time I made it. That's quite a bit of money to trust a stranger with. I however got super lucky and found Map Camera in Japan. I loved that they had 12 photos or so up of every camera. So, I could look at every inch of the camera and make my decision based on that. My first Fujifilm from them arrived within two days, packed with the utmost care and looked brand new and is loved by me every day since. My next Fujifilm was exactly the same experience so when it came to figuring out which Pentax to get, I actually went to them to see what they had and based my choice on that. My Pentax, though marked by them as a B, again, looks and feels brand new and I could not be happier in having found this amazing seller.
I love spring too🥰
And this post ofcourse!
